Tóm tắt
In today's era, with the rapid development of the science and technology, according to the scientists, the human knowledge doubles every two or three years. In such conditions, the amount of knowledge which the students acquire at the school will not be enough to keep pace with the development of science and technology while the time that they study at the University is unchanged. With the rapid progress of human knowledge, the modern students cannot lack self-study skills. This article presents the research results on the students’ readiness for their self-study ability. The participants were 45 third-year students majoring in English at Ba Ria - Vung Tau University. The research results show that although the students believe that they have the ability to self-study, due to the lack of confidence and knowledge, this ability only exists at the cognitive level.
